The Farm
The Dream
Named after the hardy tree that thrives in the dry, stony soils of the Karoo, our farm embodies that same spirit — resilient, grounded, and quietly beautiful. What began in 2009 as bare land on the edge of Van Wyksdorp has grown into a small but vibrant farm, guided by a simple dream:
To farm sustainably, add value on-site, and share something exceptional.
Our focus is small-scale commercial farming — not mass production. Instead, we aim to cultivate high-quality fruit and transform it into delicious, nutritious, value-added products right here on the farm. It's an ongoing journey, shaped by seasons, hard-earned lessons, and the unwavering support of our customers.
Each order is a vote of confidence in our vision. Every kind message keeps us going. Thank you for walking this path with us..
Where we are located.
Klapperbos Farm is located just outside Van Wyksdorp, a quiet, slow-paced town in the Klein Karoo where the air is clean, the stars are bright, and people still greet each other by name. We're situated along the R327, about 43 km from Ladismith and accessible via Garcia Pass from Riversdale on the N2.
In a world that often moves too fast, Van Wyksdorp is a reminder that time can still follow the rhythm of the land.
What We Grow
We planted our first pomegranate trees in 2010 and now care for over 1700 Acco cultivar trees — a variety known for its sweeter taste, thinner skin, and deep antioxidant-rich flavour. From these trees, we produce:
-
Fresh fruit
-
Cold-pressed juice
-
Dried pomegranate arils
-
Pomegranate molasses
The Acco cultivar is not widely planted in South Africa (making up just 3% of production), but we believe it's the most delicious and possibly the most nutritious. Why isn't it more common? Acco doesn't travel as well as the export-favourite Wonderful, but for local enjoyment and juicing, it's unmatched.
Apricots – Naturally Dried, Sulphur-Free
We also grow 2000 apricot trees and specialise in sulphur-free drying, preserving both flavour and goodness without chemical preservatives. Our apricots are sold under the By Nature label on Faithful to Nature, at Komati Foods, and select stores.
We believe that food should be: Grown with care, Made with honesty and Shared with purpose
We're still learning, still growing, and always looking for ways to do better — for the land and for our community.
